The consumable you need and what it yields

In a colour laser printer there are two types of consumable: the colour toners (black, cyan, magenta and yellow, from the 126A series) and the imaging drum, the photoconductive part that transfers the toner to the paper. Don't confuse them: the toner is the powder that is used up with each print, and the drum is the roller that projects it onto the sheet. The compatible HP 126A (CE314A) drum —also equivalent to the Canon 729 reference— is designed precisely for this family. It yields 14,000 pages of imaging life, the same figure as the original. Bear in mind that a drum isn't measured like a toner cartridge: while the yield of the colour toners is calculated to the ISO/IEC 19798 standard, the drum is rated by its service life in pages.
