No. Under Directive (EU) 2019/771 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you have the right to use third-party consumables without losing the manufacturer's statutory warranty. Consumer protection law also shields you from restrictive practices. Only the manufacturer can invalidate the warranty by proving that a consumable physically damaged the device, which does not happen with ISO 9001 certified toners.

Original toner (OEM) is made by the printer brand. Compatible toner is made by an independent supplier. When certified, both meet the same technical standards (ISO 19752/19798). The main difference is the price: the compatible costs between 50% and 70% less. Print quality, page count and cartridge lifespan are equivalent on certified compatibles.

Compatible toners certified to ISO 19752 print the same number of pages as the matching OEM at 5% coverage (the industry standard). For example: a compatible HP CF259A delivers ~3,000 pages; a compatible Brother TN-2420 delivers ~3,000 pages; a compatible Canon 045H delivers ~2,200 pages.
