How do you tell the variants apart? Across the Brother range, DCP models print, copy and scan (no fax), while MFC models add a fax function. The final C indicates colour; the W, wireless WiFi connectivity; and the N, a wired network (Ethernet). So a DCP-585CW prints in colour with WiFi, while an MFC-5490CN adds fax and a wired network.
