What toner does the HP LaserJet M209dw need, plus 5 compatible models
Actualizado 18 julio 2026Share
Looking for toner for your HP LaserJet M209dw or for the MFP M234 series? The consumable you need is the HP 135A (W1350A), which yields 1,100 pages, or its high-capacity version, the HP 135X (W1350X), with 2,400 pages. Our compatible versions carry a premium chip and offer the same print quality for a fraction of the original price. See the compatible HP 135A toner or the high-capacity HP 135X.
Is it compatible with your printer?
This whole family of HP monochrome laser printers shares exactly the same cartridge: the HP 135 (W1350A / W1350X) reference. It doesn't matter whether you have the basic model or the multifunction version with scanner; the toner is the same. If your machine is any of these, this is your consumable:
- HP LaserJet M209dw
- HP LaserJet M209dwe
- HP LaserJet MFP M234dw
- HP LaserJet MFP M234dwe
- HP LaserJet MFP M234sdne
- HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe
The letters accompanying the model number indicate the machine's functions, they don't change the cartridge: d is automatic double-sided printing (duplex), w is a Wi-Fi connection, n is a wired network (Ethernet) and MFP means it's multifunction (it prints, scans and copies). The final e identifies the editions linked to HP services. On all of them the toner you need is the HP 135A or the 135X. If you have doubts about your exact reference, use our printer-model finder.
The consumable you need and what it yields
You have two options of the same cartridge, depending on how much you print:
- Compatible HP 135A (W1350A) toner — yields 1,100 pages according to the ISO/IEC 19752 standard. It's the standard option, ideal if you print moderately at home or in a small office.
- Compatible HP 135X (W1350X) toner — yields 2,400 pages according to the same ISO/IEC 19752 standard. It's the high-capacity version (XL): more than double the pages, designed for those who print a lot and want to change cartridges less often and at a lower cost per page.
Both cartridges are the same physical consumable for the same printers; only the amount of toner they carry inside changes. If you print occasionally, the 135A is more than enough; if your machine works daily, the 135X is more cost-effective in the long run. These models are monochrome laser, so they don't need a separate drum: the image unit is integrated into the printer itself.
How much printing costs you
Here is the key to choosing compatible: you get exactly the same page yield as HP's original cartridge, but paying much less. A compatible HP 135A yields the same 1,100 pages and the 135X the same 2,400 pages as the official reference, with the same text sharpness. You notice the difference on the bill, not on the printed sheet.
To see how much you save based on your print volume, drop by our savings calculator: you enter how many pages you print per month and it shows you the difference compared to the original. Instead of looking only at the cartridge price, look at the cost per page; that's where the high-capacity 135X makes the biggest difference. Check the current price of each cartridge on its page and keep the one that best fits your printing pace.
Frequently asked questions
Does the compatible toner work the same as the original in my HP M209dw or M234?
Yes. Our compatible HP 135A and 135X cartridges carry a premium chip, so the printer recognises them and they work normally: same page yield and same print quality as the original. They are manufactured under the ISO 9001 standard.
How many pages does each cartridge print?
The HP 135A (W1350A) yields 1,100 pages and the HP 135X (W1350X) yields 2,400 pages, both measured according to the ISO/IEC 19752 standard (with an approximate coverage of 5% per page). If you print a lot, the 135X will last you more than double.
Does using a compatible cartridge void my printer's warranty?
No. Using compatible consumables does not void the legal warranty of your printer. Article 120 of RDL 1/2007 (the General Law for the Defence of Consumers and Users) protects that right: the manufacturer cannot force you to use only its cartridges. You can check the details on our warranty page.
How long does shipping take?
We ship within 24-48 hours across mainland Spain, and shipping is free from €50. This way you have your toner ready before you run out of it.
