What changes between them? The differences are in the connectivity and functions, not in the toner. The M12a is the basic one, with a USB cable connection. The M12w adds the "w" for wireless: it prints over Wi-Fi from your phone or laptop. The MFP ones (short for MultiFunction Printer) are multifunction machines that, in addition to printing, scan and copy: the M26a is the basic multifunction and the M26nw adds a network ("n") and Wi-Fi ("w") to share it among several computers. The consumable you need and what it yields

The compatible Startoner CF279A (79A) toner yields 1,000 pages measured according to the ISO/IEC 19752 standard, the international yield standard for monochrome toner (with a 5% coverage per page). It's the same yield figure the original cartridge declares, so you'll print the same amount of documents per cartridge, but paying much less.
