Compatible Epson 106 ink for EcoTank ET-7700 and ET-7750 | Guide and installation
Actualizado 18 julio 2026Share
The compatible Epson 106 ink is a bottle refill for the refillable-tank EcoTank systems. At Star Toner we manufacture this consumable to the ISO 9001 standard, with a formulation designed to reproduce photo-quality printing without paying the price of the original. Here we explain which printers it fits, how to install it, what to do if an ink-not-recognised warning appears and why it makes sense compared with the branded consumable.
What Epson 106 ink is and which printers it fits
The 106 series corresponds to the ink bottles for the photo-range EcoTank models, with a multi-colour configuration to achieve smooth gradients and neutral blacks. Our compatible ink is valid exactly for these models:
- Epson EcoTank ET-7700
- Epson EcoTank ET-7750
- Epson Expression Premium ET-7700
- Epson Expression Premium ET-7750
As this is a tank system, you don't insert a cartridge: you refill the tank for each colour. Always check the colour of the bottle before pouring so you don't mix inks inside the tank.
How to install it and what to do if it doesn't recognise the ink
Filling is straightforward. Open the tank cover, remove the cap from the tank of the relevant colour and fit the bottle. The EcoTank system usually features a nozzle with a colour key that only fits its own tank, which prevents mistakes. Pour up to the maximum level line and close it firmly again.
Unlike chipped cartridges, EcoTank tanks don't carry a chip per colour; instead the printer estimates the level via software. That's why, after a refill, it's normal to have to reset the ink-level counter from the printer panel or from the Epson software, indicating that you have refilled that colour. If after filling you see a low-level or ink-not-detected message, follow these steps:
- Confirm that you have refilled the tank up to the maximum line.
- Run the ink-level reset from the maintenance menu.
- Carry out a nozzle check and, if there are banding streaks, a print-head cleaning cycle.
To confirm that the colour output is correct, you can print our CMYK print test page and review each channel.
Yield and savings compared with the original
The compatible Epson 106 ink is formulated to deliver colour density and stability equivalent to the original consumable in home and office use. The EcoTank system already greatly reduces the cost per page compared with conventional cartridges; by using compatible bottles, that saving is significantly extended without changing your workflow.

If your machine uses a different bottle series, take a look at our other compatible EcoTank options too, such as the Epson 104 ink, the Epson 103 ink or the Epson 102 ink, and choose the one that matches the model indicated on your tank.
Frequently asked questions
Will the compatible Epson 106 ink work with my EcoTank ET-7750?
Yes. This compatible ink is valid for the Epson EcoTank ET-7700, EcoTank ET-7750, Expression Premium ET-7700 and Expression Premium ET-7750. Check that the 106 reference matches the one indicated on your tank before refilling.
My printer says it doesn't recognise the ink after refilling — what do I do?
On EcoTank models the level is estimated via software, so after refilling you need to reset the level counter from the printer's maintenance menu, indicating the colour you refilled. Then run a nozzle check to confirm it's printing correctly.
Does using compatible ink void my Epson printer's warranty?
No. The legal warranty in Spain is not lost by using compatible consumables. The manufacturer could only refuse a repair if it proves that the consumable caused the specific damage, something that is very unlikely with ink manufactured to the ISO 9001 standard.
How much do I save compared with the original bottles?
The EcoTank system already lowers the cost per page compared with traditional cartridges, and with compatible bottles the saving is even greater while maintaining equivalent print quality for home and office use.
