This is the question we get asked most, so let's get straight to it. HP LaserJet Pro printers include HP Dynamic Security, a system that reads the cartridge chip. The only thing to keep an eye on is HP firmware updates, which sometimes change how the chip reader behaves. Installation and the level warning

Changing the toner takes about a minute: open the front cover, pull the old cartridge out by the tab, remove the plastic seal from the new one, gently rock it from side to side to spread the powder, and slot it in until it clicks. It's normal for the printer to show a "non-genuine cartridge" warning or an approximate ink level after fitting a compatible; you can dismiss it and carry on printing perfectly normally.
