How to install it and what to do if it "doesn't recognise the cartridge"

• With the printer switched on, open the cartridge access cover and wait for the carriage to move into position.
• Remove the empty cartridge by pushing it gently to release the catch.
• Take the new LC3217 out of its packaging and remove the protective strip from the ink outlet.
• Insert it into its colour slot until you hear a click and close the cover.

If a "cartridge not detected" or "cartridge not recognised" warning appears, it is almost always resolved as follows: remove the cartridge and refit it, making sure it clicks; wipe the chip contacts with a dry cloth; switch the printer off for a few minutes to force the reader to reset, and confirm you have removed the protective strip. These warnings are usually caused by an imperfect contact, not a fault in the cartridge. Bear in mind that some printers ask you to confirm the use of a non-original consumable: this is an informational message and you can carry on as normal.
