Is it compatible with your printer?

This entire family of Brother monochrome laser machines uses the same TN2320 (TN660) toner and the same DR2300 (DR2305) drum. It doesn't matter whether you have a simple printer (HL series), an all-in-one with scanner and copier (DCP series) or a machine with fax (MFC series): the consumable is the same. The letters at the end of the model indicate the connectivity features and don't change the cartridge: D is duplex (automatic double-sided), N is wired network (Ethernet) and W is Wi-Fi. That's why an L2340DW prints double-sided and over Wi-Fi, while an L2300D only has duplex, but both use the TN2320. If you have any of these models, this is your cartridge:

The consumable you need and its yield

These Brother machines use a system of two separate parts: the toner, which holds the powdered ink and is used up with every print, and the drum, which transfers that powder onto the paper and lasts much longer. It's important not to confuse them.

The compatible TN2320 (TN660) toner yields 2,600 pages according to the ISO/IEC 19752 standard (the measurement standard for monochrome toner). It's the part you'll replace most often.

The compatible DR2300 (DR2305) drum yields 12,000 pages, meaning it lasts the equivalent of several toners before needing replacement. There's no need to change it every time the ink runs out: only when the printer warns of the drum's end of life or you notice repeated defects on the page. The cost per page drops significantly and, since the DR2300 drum lasts 12,000 pages and is bought separately, you only replace the part that has actually worn out. No throwing money away swapping components that still work.

The DR2300 (DR2305) drum yields 12,000 pages, far more than a toner. It isn't changed with every toner: only when the printer warns of the drum's end of life or when repeated marks or streaks appear on your prints. Under normal conditions, a drum lasts you the equivalent of several TN2320 toners.
