What toner and drum does the HP LaserJet Pro M102a need, plus 5 compatible models
Actualizado 18 julio 2026Share
Looking for toner for your HP LaserJet Pro M102 or M130? The cartridge you need is the HP CF217A (17A), with a yield of 1,600 pages. Since this family works with a separate toner and drum system, sooner or later you'll also need the HP CF219A (19A) drum, which yields 12,000 pages. Our compatible versions offer the same quality for a fraction of the original price. See the compatible toner.
Is it compatible with your printer?
The CF217A (17A) toner and the CF219A (19A) drum are the consumables fitted by all the models in this series. The letters of the name indicate the equipment of each machine: a is the basic model, w adds a Wi-Fi connection, n incorporates a network (Ethernet) and f adds fax. The letters MFP mean multifunction, that is, that in addition to printing it also copies and scans. Whatever the connectivity changes, the consumable is exactly the same. If you have any of these models, this is your cartridge:
- HP LaserJet Pro M102a
- HP LaserJet Pro M102w
- HP LaserJet Pro MFP M130a
- HP LaserJet Pro MFP M130fn
- HP LaserJet Pro MFP M130fw
- HP LaserJet Pro MFP M130nw

The consumable you need and what it yields
This series uses two independent pieces, and it's best not to confuse them:
- Compatible HP CF217A (17A) toner: it's the one carrying the printing powder and the one you use up with each page. It yields 1,600 pages according to the ISO/IEC 19752 standard (the standard measurement for monochrome toner). It's the replacement you'll buy regularly.
- Compatible HP CF219A (19A) drum: it's the image unit that transfers the toner to the paper. It yields 12,000 pages, so it withstands several toners before having to replace it (around seven 1,600-page cartridges). You only change it when the printer itself tells you to.
In short: you replace the toner frequently and the drum every now and then. If you want to fully understand the difference between the two, we explain it in this toner vs. drum guide. And if it's the first time you change it, follow our tutorial to install a toner step by step.
How much printing costs you
Here is the real advantage of the compatible: you get the same yield —those 1,600 pages of toner and 12,000 pages of drum— paying much less than for HP's original consumable. Page by page, the printing cost plummets without giving up quality. Check the current price of the toner and calculate your exact saving with our savings calculator: you'll see how much you recover compared to the original over the year.
Frequently asked questions
Does the compatible CF217A toner work the same as the HP original?
Yes. It's fully compatible with the HP LaserJet Pro M102 and M130, offers the same yield of 1,600 pages (ISO/IEC 19752) and the same print quality. The printer recognises it and you use it exactly like the original, with no tricks or odd settings.
How many pages does it print and how often do I change the drum?
The CF217A (17A) toner yields 1,600 pages and the CF219A (19A) drum yields 12,000 pages. Since the drum lasts much longer, you'll change several toners for each drum: you'll only have to replace the image unit when the printer itself indicates it.
Does using a compatible toner void my printer's warranty?
No. According to article 120 of RDL 1/2007 (the General Law for the Defence of Consumers and Users), using compatible consumables does not void your printer's warranty; the manufacturer cannot force you to buy only its brand. In addition, our consumables come with a 3-year warranty.
How long does shipping take?
