Compatible Brother DR2510 drum: installation, reset and yield (15,000 pages)

Actualizado 18 julio 2026

The DR2510 drum unit is the part that transfers toner onto the paper in many Brother L2000-series laser printers. It isn't a consumable you use up with every print like toner, but it does wear out: when the counter reaches the end of its life, the printer warns you that it needs replacing. Our compatible Brother DR2510 drum delivers an approximate yield of 15,000 pages for €16.98.

What it is and which printers it fits

The DR2510 is the imaging unit (the photoconductor drum), not the toner cartridge. The two work together but are replaced separately: the toner runs out long before the drum. This compatible drum is designed for the following models:

  • Brother DCP-L2620DW
  • Brother DCP-L2660DW
  • Brother HL-L2400DW
  • Brother HL-L2445DW
  • Brother MFC-L2800DW
  • Brother MFC-L2827DW

The toner that goes with this drum in those machines is the compatible Brother TN360 toner. If your printer is from an earlier generation, the drum model changes depending on the series: check the compatible Brother DR-2000 / DR-350 drum before you buy.

How to fit it and what to do if it "doesn't recognise the cartridge"

Fitting it is straightforward. Follow these steps:

  • Switch off the printer and open the front cover.
  • Remove the complete drum and toner assembly.
  • Separate the toner cartridge from the drum by pressing the locking lever (green).
  • Place your toner cartridge onto the new DR2510 drum until you hear it click.
  • Reinsert the assembly and close the cover.

The DR2510 has a counter that the printer manages internally. After the swap, on most of these models you need to reset the drum counter so the warning disappears: switch the printer on with the cover closed, go into the menu and look for the drum reset option (on machines with a display it's usually in the maintenance menu; on the more basic ones it's done with a button combination while opening the front cover). If, after fitting it, the printer says it doesn't recognise the cartridge or still shows the drum as spent, it's almost always because that reset is missing, not a fault with the product. Consult your model's manual for the exact sequence.

Yield and savings compared with the original

This drum is manufactured to quality standards to match the life cycle of the original reference: around 15,000 pages under normal use conditions. Actual yield depends on the type of paper, the humidity and how many pages you print per job (short, frequent jobs wear out any drum sooner, whether original or compatible).

The difference is in the cost. A compatible drum noticeably reduces your cost per page compared with the branded unit, while keeping prints sharp. Frequently asked questions

Is the DR2510 drum the same as the toner?

No. The DR2510 is the imaging unit (the drum that transfers toner onto the paper) and lasts around 15,000 pages. The toner is the consumable that holds the printing powder and runs out much sooner. They are replaced separately.

Which Brother printers is this DR2510 drum compatible with?

With the Brother DCP-L2620DW, DCP-L2660DW, HL-L2400DW, HL-L2445DW, MFC-L2800DW and MFC-L2827DW. Always check your model's reference before buying, as earlier series use different drums such as the DR-2000 or DR-350.

I fitted the drum and the printer still warns that it's spent. What do I do?

You need to reset the drum counter after the swap. Depending on the model, this is done from the on-screen maintenance menu or with a button combination while opening the front cover. Consult your machine's manual for the exact sequence; it's hardly ever a fault with the product.

Does using a compatible drum void my Brother printer's warranty?

No. The law protects the use of compatible consumables and the manufacturer cannot void the machine's warranty over it, unless it can be proven that the consumable caused specific damage. You can read more in our article on the statutory guarantee for compatible cartridges in Spain.
