Compatible Konica Minolta TN116 / TN117 toner: installation and savings

Actualizado 18 julio 2026

If you manage one or several compact monochrome Konica Minolta bizhub machines, the consumable you need is almost always the same: the TN116 / TN117 toner. At Star Toner you can get it in a compatible version (not original) for €9.98, with a declared yield of 11,000 pages. Here we explain what it is for, how to install it and what to do if the printer does not recognise it.

What it is and which printers it works with

The TN116 and TN117 are monochrome (black) toner cartridges that are equivalent to each other in most configurations across this range. Our compatible cartridge is manufactured to work in:

  • Konica Minolta bizhub 164
  • Konica Minolta bizhub 184
  • Konica Minolta bizhub 195
  • Konica Minolta bizhub 215
  • Konica Minolta bizhub 235
  • Konica Minolta bizhub 7818

Before ordering, check on the label of your empty cartridge that the reference matches (TN116 or TN117). You will find the full compatibility list and the specifications on the compatible TN116/TN117 toner product page.

How to install it and what to do if "the cartridge is not recognised"

Installation is straightforward and requires no tools:

  • Open the front door and remove the empty toner cartridge.
  • Shake the new cartridge horizontally several times to distribute the toner evenly.
  • Remove the seal or protective cap if your model includes one.
  • Insert the cartridge until it clicks into place and close the door.

On this bizhub series the toner is mechanical and has no electronic chip, so you normally don't need to reset anything: the machine detects the new cartridge when you close the door. If a "toner not recognised" message appears or the level does not update, try these steps:

  • Switch the machine off completely, wait a few seconds and turn it back on to force it to re-read the cartridge.
  • Remove and reinsert the cartridge, making sure it is properly seated.
  • Wipe the contacts and the coupling area with a dry cloth before reinserting it.

Bear in mind that many consumable alerts are informational and let you keep printing. If your printer were a different brand, you might be interested in reading how firmware can block cartridges, a common problem on HP machines.

Yield and savings compared with the original

With a declared yield of 11,000 pages (based on the standard 5% coverage pattern), this cartridge covers the typical volume of a small office for months. The real difference against the original lies in the cost per page: a compatible consumable delivers the same number of pages for a fraction of the OEM price, without changing print quality on text and everyday work documents.

Why buy it at Star Toner

We work with premium quality compatible products, manufactured under ISO 9001 certified processes, and we back every cartridge with our guarantee. Buying compatible is entirely legal and does not void your printer's warranty: we explain this in detail in the article on the legal warranty of compatible cartridges in Spain.

Frequently asked questions

Are the TN116 and TN117 toners interchangeable?

Yes. On the bizhub machines in this range the TN116 and TN117 are equivalent, and this compatible cartridge covers both references. Always check the label on your empty cartridge before ordering.

Will it work with my Konica Minolta bizhub?

It is compatible with the bizhub 164, 184, 195, 215, 235 and 7818. If your model appears in that list, the cartridge will work; if not, get in touch with us before buying.

What do I do if the printer says it doesn't recognise the cartridge?

This toner has no chip, so it is usually enough to switch the machine off and on again or reinsert the cartridge. Cleaning the contacts with a dry cloth also resolves most alerts.

How many pages does it print and at what coverage?

The declared yield is 11,000 pages, measured with the standard 5% coverage pattern. The actual result varies depending on the type of document you print.
