What it is

What is a compatible drum?

The drum, imaging unit or photoconductor (OPC) is the cylinder that transfers the toner onto the paper inside your laser printer. It is not the toner: it is the part that deposits it. On many Brother, Lexmark and OKI printers, and some Canon or Samsung models, it is replaced separately. A compatible drum certified to ISO 9001 offers the same lifespan as the original with savings of up to 70%.

It is not the toner

The toner is the powder that runs out quickly; the drum is the cylinder that lasts far longer. Replacing only the drum, without buying a whole cartridge, is the cheapest way to keep your printer up to date.

Long lifespan

A drum yields between 10.000 and 80.000 pages, compared with the 1.000–3.000 of a toner. That is why it outlasts several cartridges before needing replacement, and its cost per page is minimal.

Same quality, lower price

Manufactured under ISO 9001 and tested to the STMC standard, they match OEM performance. You pay up to 70% less without losing sharpness or print reliability.

Without losing your warranty

Using third-party consumables does not void your printer's warranty. European law (Directive 2019/771) and Spanish Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007 back this up: the manufacturer cannot force you to buy only its own brand.

Canon drums

CRG-049 (12.000 pages) for the i-SENSYS LBP112/113 and MF112/113; CRG-051 (23.000 pages) for the LBP162 and MF264/267/269; and the professional imaging units C-EXV14 (50.000 pages) for the iR2016/2020/2318, C-EXV42 (55.000 pages) for the iR2202/2204 and C-EXV50 (60.000 pages) for the iR1435.

Lexmark drums

On Lexmark printers the drum is almost always separate from the toner, so replacing it on its own is a big saving.

Samsung drums

MLT-R116 (9.000 pages), the imaging unit for the Xpress SL-M2625, M2675, M2825, M2835 and M2885. It is the drum that outlasts several MLT-D116 toner cartridges before needing to be replaced, with the same sharpness as the original.

How to choose

How do I know which drum I need?

There are three quick ways to get it right first time. All of them start from information you already have to hand: the drum itself, the printer or the box of the consumable you currently use.

By drum reference

This is the most reliable method. Look at the code on your current drum or on its box (for example DR2400, CF257A, CRG-051 or MLT-R116) and search for it exactly. That code identifies the exact part you need.

By printer model

If you can't find the reference, type in your machine's model (HL-L2350DW, LaserJet M203, i-SENSYS LBP162, MS410) and we'll show you the compatible drum. Not sure? We'll confirm it for you on WhatsApp within minutes.

Drum vs toner

Remember that the drum is not the toner: the toner is the powder that prints and the drum is the cylinder that transfers it. If your printer warns you to "replace drum" or shows "drum", you need this imaging unit, not a cartridge.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about compatible drums

What is the difference between the drum and the toner?

The toner is the powder that forms the image and runs out every 1.000–3.000 pages. The drum (or imaging unit) is the photoconductor cylinder that transfers that powder onto the paper and lasts much longer, between 10.000 and 80.000 pages. On many Brother, Lexmark, Canon or Samsung printers they are separate parts: you change several toners before you have to replace the drum.

When should the drum be replaced?

When the printer shows a "replace drum", "drum" or "imaging unit" message, or when smudges, repeated lines or faded areas appear that changing the toner does not fix. Each model has its own lifespan: for example, a DR2400 yields 12.000 pages and a CF257A up to 80.000.

Does using a compatible drum void the printer's warranty?

No. Directive (EU) 2019/771 and Spanish Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007 (Art. 120) prohibit the manufacturer from forcing you to use only its own brand. You can fit a compatible drum certified to ISO 9001 without losing your machine's warranty, as long as the product meets the specifications, as ours do.

How do I know which drum reference I need?

The quickest way is to read the code printed on your current drum or on its box (DR2300, CF232A, CRG-049, D310, MLT-R116…) and search for it. If you can't find it, tell us your printer model and we'll tell you the exact drum. You can also message us on WhatsApp and we'll confirm it right away.

How long does a compatible drum last?

The same as the original: ours are manufactured under ISO 9001 and tested to the STMC standard to match OEM lifespan. Depending on the model, they range from 9.000 pages (Samsung MLT-R116) up to 80.000 (HP CF257A), while paying up to 70% less than the manufacturer's brand.
