What the PDF includes and which design to choose

You do not need special boxes to use these numbers. You can stick them onto envelopes you already have, attach them to small bags with a peg, or place them on small parcels. The numbering is designed to organize your countdown from 1 to 24 December, with a different activity or surprise behind each number.

We have created two original designs. Neither includes years, day names, or coloured backgrounds, so you can save the file for another season. The small underline beneath each numeral helps identify the correct orientation when cutting out or placing the label.

How to print without changing the size

Download the PDF and open it in a document reader. Printing a screenshot of the preview adds unnecessary steps and makes it harder to control dimensions. The downloadable file contains numbers and illustrations as vector elements.

  1. Select A4 paper and portrait orientation. Choose page 1 for circles or page 2 for squares. No need to print both.
  2. Use "Actual size" or 100% scale. Adobe explains that "Actual size" prints without scaling and that "Fit" modifies the size to match the printable area. You can consult its page size guide [1].
  3. Check the print preview. All labels and the footer line must appear. If anything is cut off, verify your paper selection and printable margins before continuing.
  4. Make a test print and measure the bottom line. It must measure 50 mm. If it does not match, adjust your scaling before printing further copies. Label dimensions are only preserved at actual size.

If slight size variations do not matter to you, you can choose "Fit" to avoid clipping. In that case, use the printed ruler to verify the resulting scale and test one label on an envelope before cutting them all. To send the file from your phone, check our guide on how to print from your phone.

White background and hand decoration

The design leaves the paper unprinted around the numbers and avoids heavy filled blocks. Decoration is limited to outlines and small motifs. If you want colour, you can add it later with pencils, ribbon, or craft paper you already have.

"Low ink" describes a design intent here, not a measured saving. We have not tested the consumption of these files on a physical printer nor calculated a cost per page. We also do not promise that every black and white setting will use only the black cartridge. To work out your costs, see how to estimate print cost per page.

Start with the paper your printer supports. If you want stiffer labels, print on regular paper and glue them onto thin cardstock afterwards. Before feeding thicker card or adhesive sheets directly, check your printer manual for supported media and the recommended tray. You do not need a special finish for a neat calendar.

Assemble a calendar with what you already have

Gather your envelopes, bags, or containers and decide where to place them before sticking the labels. You can arrange them on a shelf or peg them to a string. Test the layout first without sticking anything down to ensure the numbers are easily readable.

Cut around the outline of each label. For squares, separate rows first and then each individual piece. For circles, rotate the paper while following the curve. Glue or fasten the numbers with the small underline positioned beneath the figure.

Choose whichever order you prefer: in sequence to find the day at a glance, or mixed up for a daily search. Before filling the envelopes, double-check that you have all numbers from 1 to 24 and that none are stuck together.

Ideas to fill envelopes without buying daily gifts

Write activities and surprises that fit your routine: picking the bedtime story, choosing a photo to remember a special moment, inventing a riddle, making an afternoon snack together, or leaving a thank-you note. You can also divide pieces of a drawing to complete day by day.

Save ideas requiring more preparation for days when you have free time. On busy days, a short phrase or a small treat is plenty. If you write notes by hand, our printable handwriting worksheets can help prepare neat messages.

Questions before downloading

Do I need to print both pages?

No. Each page contains a full set of numbers. The first has circles and the second squares. Choose one, or combine both styles if you like.

Can I use the file in class?

Yes. These original designs are free for personal and educational use. You can print copies for your activity. To share them with other families or teachers, please link to this article; do not resell the file.

Can they be used as stickers?

The sheets do not match a commercial pre-cut sticker layout. You can cut them out from regular paper and glue them. If you use full-sheet sticker paper, check printer compatibility first.

Where is the German version?

We have a guide on crafting an Advent calendar, in German. This PDF features new designs and instructions in Spanish; the cut-out labels themselves contain only numerals and motifs.

If you need supplies to prepare your printables, check our Startoner compatible ink cartridges and verify your exact printer model before choosing.

Choose your page and keep the file for next year.
