Installation is straightforward: switch off the machine or leave it in standby, open the front cover of the toner compartment, remove the spent cartridge by pulling it out horizontally, gently rock the new one from side to side to distribute the toner powder and slot it in until you hear the click. Close the cover and the machine will carry out the automatic recognition.

If a message such as "toner not recognised" or "incompatible cartridge" appears, try this in order:

• Remove and reinsert the cartridge, making sure it is properly seated; poor contact is the most common cause.
• Check that you have fully removed the protective seal or tab.
• Switch the machine off completely at the mains, wait 30 seconds and turn it back on to force a reset of the chip.
