Compatible Canon C-EXV50 toner for imageRUNNER 1435: complete guide
Actualizado 18 julio 2026Share
The compatible Canon C-EXV50 toner is a high-yield monochrome cartridge for office multifunction devices. Here we explain which printers it fits, how to install it, what to do if the machine doesn't recognise the cartridge and what real savings you can expect compared with the original.
What it is and which printers it fits
The C-EXV50 is a black toner cartridge with a yield of 17,600 pages to ISO/IEC standard, designed for medium and high print volumes. Our compatible version is manufactured to the ISO 9001 quality standard and is suitable exclusively for these models:
- Canon imageRUNNER 1435
- Canon imageRUNNER 1435i
- Canon imageRUNNER 1435if
- Canon imageRUNNER 1435P
If your machine is one of these, the cartridge fits without adapters. Bear in mind that the imaging unit (drum) is a separate part: if you need to replace it, we have the compatible Canon C-EXV50 drum with a 60,000-page yield.
How to install it and what to do if it "doesn't recognise the cartridge"
Installation is straightforward. Open the front cover, remove the used cartridge by pulling it out gently, shake the new cartridge horizontally several times to distribute the toner and insert it until it stops. Close the cover and wait for the machine to complete the recognition cycle.
If a cartridge-not-recognised warning appears
imageRUNNER machines read a chip on the cartridge. If an error message appears after installation, try these steps in order:
- Open and close the front cover again to force a second reading of the chip.
- Switch the machine off at the main power switch, wait a minute and turn it back on. This restart usually resets the chip status.
- Check that the metal contacts on the cartridge are clean and free of packaging residue.
In most cases the warning disappears after the restart. If your machine is a different brand, you may be interested in reading how firmware can block compatible cartridges and how to avoid it.
Yield and savings compared with the original
A well-manufactured compatible cartridge offers the same print density and the same page yield as the original, provided it complies with the ISO measurement standard. The saving compared with the OEM on office cartridges such as the C-EXV50 is usually very significant, without giving up text quality or reliability on long runs.

Frequently asked questions
Does the compatible Canon C-EXV50 toner work with my imageRUNNER 1435i?
Yes. This cartridge is compatible with the Canon imageRUNNER 1435, 1435i, 1435if and 1435P. It fits without adapters and offers a yield of 17,600 ISO pages.
My printer says it doesn't recognise the cartridge, what do I do?
Open and close the front cover to force a fresh reading of the chip. If it persists, switch the machine off at the main power switch, wait a minute and turn it back on. Also check that the chip contacts are clean.
Does using a compatible toner void my Canon's warranty?
No. The law protects the use of compatible consumables and the manufacturer cannot void the machine's warranty simply for using them. Our cartridges are manufactured to ISO 9001 and include a legal guarantee.
Do I also need to change the drum when fitting this toner?
Not necessarily. The toner and the drum are independent parts. The drum has a much longer life (around 60,000 pages), so you'll only replace it when print quality indicates it.
