How to install it and what to do if it "doesn't recognise the cartridge"
Installation is straightforward and requires no tools:
- Switch off the machine and open the front cover.
- Remove the spent cartridge by pulling it out gently.
- Shake the new C-EXV14 horizontally several times to distribute the toner evenly.
- Insert it until you hear the locking click and close the cover.
On the imageRUNNER 2016-2545 series the C-EXV14 toner has no electronic chip: the machine measures the level with an optical sensor, so you will rarely see a "cartridge not recognised" warning. If a residual message from the previous consumable appears, switch the machine off for a minute and back on again to reset the counter; you can also remove and reinsert the cartridge, making sure it is properly seated. If the warning persists, it is usually caused by toner residue on the sensor: clean it carefully with a dry cloth.
