How to install it and what to do if it says "cartridge not recognised"

Installation is identical to the original: switch off the printer, open the front cover, remove the used cartridge, take off the seals and the protective tab from the new one, and insert it until you hear the click. Close the cover and switch on.

As this cartridge has a chip, the printer should recognise it immediately. If a message such as "cartridge not recognised" or "non-genuine Canon toner" appears, try these steps in order:

• Switch the printer off completely, wait a minute and switch it back on so it restarts the chip reading.
• Remove and refit the cartridge, making sure it is fully seated and that you have removed all the protective tape.
• Carefully clean the gold chip contacts with a dry cloth, without touching them directly with your fingers.
• If your machine has the option, accept the message to continue with a non-genuine consumable; it is a commercial notice, not a cartridge fault.
