The compatible HP CB540A / CE320A toner is a colour cartridge designed to replace the original in several entry-level HP Color LaserJet printers. It offers an approximate yield of 2,200 pages under the ISO/IEC standard, suitable for both home use and small offices that print in colour regularly.

What it is and which printers it works with

How to install it and what to do if the cartridge "is not recognised"

Installation is identical to that of the original cartridge: open the front cover, remove the used cartridge, take off the seal and protective tab from the new toner and slot it in until you hear it click into place. Close the cover and wait for the device to complete the calibration cycle.

If, after installing it, a message such as "cartridge not recognised" or "non-HP consumable" appears, do not be alarmed: it is a common message with cartridges that are not branded. In most cases you simply need to confirm the message on the panel and carry on printing. If the chip does not respond, switch the printer off for a few seconds, turn it back on and reinstall the cartridge to force the reading.
