How to install it and what to do if the "cartridge is not recognised"

Installation is identical to that of an original cartridge: switch on the printer, open the access door, wait for the carriage to stop, remove the used cartridge and fit the new one until you hear it click. Always remove the protective strip and don't touch the contacts.

If, after fitting it, a cartridge not recognised or "used/counterfeit" warning appears, it's usually not a fault: it's HP's detection system. Try these steps:

• Remove the cartridge and reinsert it firmly until it clicks.
• Carefully clean the contacts with a dry, lint-free cloth.
• Switch the printer off for a few minutes and back on again to reset the chip reading.
• If the warning persists, accept to continue when the printer offers to carry on using the cartridge.
