Installation is identical to the original: open the front cover, remove the used cartridge, take the new one out of its packaging, remove the protective seal by pulling the tab horizontally and firmly, gently rock the cartridge from side to side to distribute the toner, and slot it in until it clicks into place.

If after the swap you get a cartridge not recognised or incompatible toner message, try these steps in order:

• Turn off the printer, take out the cartridge, wait a few seconds and refit it, making sure it is properly seated.
• Fully restart the printer (off and on again) so it reads the chip afresh.
• Carefully clean the gold chip contacts with a dry, lint-free cloth in case there is any residue.
